Through the Parentpreneur Accelerator Podcast, we help you to build the startup business of your dreams, whilst having time with the family you love. To do this, we share tips and experiences from successful (and earlier stage) parentpreneurs who know exactly what it's like to have a conference call while changing a nappy, or to write down a customer's email with a crayon while feeding a baby. :-) This podcast is hosted by serial entrepreneur and proud dad, Alexis Kingsbury. After 17+ years and 8+ startups, Alexis knows that building startups is not easy (just like parenting!). So this podcast aims to give you the advice you need to make it easier to create a successful startup business, without having to neglect quality time with your family. This week I am interviewing Lucy Parsons.Lucy is the CEO of Life More Extraordinary and is an academic coach who supports teenagers and their parents through GCSE and A Level exams, teaching them the study skills they need to reach their full academic potential. At the age of nine Lucy decided she would like to study at Cambridge University. She went to comprehensive schools where there wasn’t much help or expertise in helping students achieve things like this, so she worked it out on her own. After her three years at Cambridge she was headhunted for her first job with Tesco.com, but corporate life wasn’t for her. She trained as a teacher and worked in schools for four years. Her business was born out of the desire to continue to work in education but to be at home for her young family and she hasn’t looked back since. She is the author of The Ten Step Guide to Acing Every Exam You Ever Take and the founder of The Extraordinaries Club, an online membership site for families to support them through the exam years. She has been featured in The Telegraph and The Independent and on BBC Radio 5 Live.In this episode, we will discuss: How she supports teens and parents through the exam years. How Lucy originally wrote and launched her book and how this led to getting a publishing contract and the expansion of her business. How her business enables her to work in a flexible way around her health needs and the element of my well-being journey.
